Since my decision to embark on a shopping sabbatical (for a year), I've been discovering hidden treasures in my wardrobe - every day is a new surprise! I've housed all my summer gear in my bedroom wardrobe, and out of season stuff in the basement. I have even gone so far as to put items of the same colour all together. What fun! I've done the same with my jewellery. No shops - more time to play! Housework? Yes, of course. Work? yes of course! Never realized how much time shopping stole from me!
Here are some photos. A time management book I read suggested putting 7 outfits together for the week ahead, and then writing them on your wardrobe door, so you don't have to ask yourself 'What should I wear today?' An idea I find very useful.
Dressing up is fun, at least it makes me happy, and others too. Every time I make an effort, strangers come up and compliment me. It brings a smile to their faces.
Even the patients in the office have commented on how much it cheers them up. One lady gave me the ultimate compliment recently "You're my role model". Whot? me? I was taken aback when she said it. (Kevin has noticed this lady is now taking an increased interest in her appearance, never bothering before). To be honest, it kind of puts me under pressure now...knowing that somebody is watching what I'm wearing! It just goes to show you, an effort a day, keeps gloom away!
